Puja is an act of devoting yourself to the GOD. It becomes a part of our daily routine. It is considered as an effective way to reduce our problems. Earlier, people did puja in detail, but now a dsys in fast life, it has done in narrowed way. Puja is an act of paying tribute to divine through the prayers. It is also favorable to decrease the negative influence of the planets. Different occasions like starting a new journey, launching a business have their own puja to remove the obstacles in the path.

A lot of people are worried about the rites and rituals to be followed for performing pujas, reciting stotras and doing mantra japa. There several types of pujas of the deities and some of them can take a whole day. The way a puja is performed also varies depending on one’s regional and traditional background. Various puja books and websites prescribe long preparations and rituals for pujas. It is not possible for everyone to perform a puja like an ordained Vedic priest. Hence our scriptures allow one to do a puja “Yatha shakti” or as per ones capability and convenience. Doing it with faith is what really matters. The minimum is: Take bath, wear clean clothes, light a lamp and an incense stick and offer some prasad – if you don’t have anything at home the simple milk or sugar will do. Preferably keep an idol or photograph of the deity.
